Sailors and ships were an integral part of the Netherlands
for trade and to protect the Dutch East India Company
Portugal: 1400's Naval
and Navigational Power
Once Powerful because of the school for Navigators, annexed
by Spain in 1580
France: 1600's Military Power
Because of the centralization of the government,and great
economic success becomes one of the most powerful countries in Europe
Develops a school for sciences which makes many contributions
to increase the technology of trade
Holy Roman Empire: 1500 & 1600
Diplomatic Power
Expands the influence of the Hapsburgs through diplomacy
and marriage
Tries to keep territory with these unions and diplomacy
(Pragmatic Sanction and the Diplomatic Revolution)
