Pick one:
1. War is a destructive force that continues to interrupt the growth
of civilization. All wars have similarities but World War I and World War
II were very closely related. Discuss the relationship of World War I and
World War II. Do not write a report and just tell facts about WWI in one
paragraph and facts about WWII in another paragraph. Each of your body
paragraphs will discuss WWI & WWII, instead of a shopping list of facts
tell how they compare. (What categories do they compare)
2. After WW I the United States was not yet ready to assume world leadership. This lack of leadership was demonstrated by the protective tariffs she imposed and her general lack of support for economically strapped European nations who had lost their economic influence after the war. Discuss the role of the United States after World War II.
3. The time between the wars was a fertile opportunity for the growth of dictators. Choose two of the dictators (Mussolini, Stalin or Hitler) and in an effort to prevent future dictators determine how they were able to become such a destructive force in history. (Hint: You will be partially explaining their role in history as well as how they got there.)
4. Discuss the activities against the Jews in Germany and Eastern Europe, an event known as the holocaust, and describe how these events could have occurred. (Don't write a report about the holocaust and tell me how people were killed, rather report on the entire holocaust and how it could have occured what conditions caused the holocaust.)
5. Discuss the ways in which the current situation in the Balkans can be compared to the conditions in World War I or to other situations in which the United States became involved.
